2026 Total Seminar
1993년부터 〈토탈아카데미〉를 운영 중인 토탈미술관은 전문적이고 다양한 예술 장르를 넘나들며 문화예술 접근성을 확대하는 데 기여해 왔습니다. 30년 이상의 아카데미 경험을 바탕으로 〈토탈세미나〉를 새롭게 시작합니다.
〈토탈세미나〉는 연구자와의 협업으로 한국 동시대 작가들을 깊이 있게 탐구하는 프로그램입니다. 빠르게 변화하는 현대 미술의 흐름 속에서 작가들의 작품과 그들이 다루는 주제를 연구자의 관점에서 심층적으로 분석합니다.
다양한 매체와 주제로 작업하는 동시대 작가 한 명 한 명을 다루는 〈토탈세미나〉에서 그들의 작품이 반영하는 사회적, 문화적, 기술적 요소들을 학문적 시각에서 들여다보고, 이를 통해 수강자들은 미술 작품을 감상하는 것을 넘어, 그 안에 담긴 메시지와 개념을 비판적으로 분석하고 해석하는 능력을 기르게 될 것입니다.
2024년 8월부터 〈토탈세미나〉는 ‘동시대 미술의 행간’이라는 제목으로 이문정 미술평론가(연구소 리포에틱)와 함께하고 있습니다. 토탈세미나는 미술 연구자와 학생, 그리고 동시대 미술에 관심을 가진 모든 이들에게 열려있습니다. 보다 깊이 이해하고자 하는 분들에게 귀중한 인사이트를 제공할 것입니다.

▶ 강사 소개 | 이문정(미술평론가/연구소 리포에틱 대표)
이화여자대학교 조형예술학 박사. 2011년 미술평론가로 활동을 시작했다. 2018년부터 한국 작가들의 작품세계를 다룬 연구집 『리포에틱 평론과 대화』를 출간하고 있으며, 연구소 웹사이트에 평론 및 인터뷰 아카이빙을 진행 중이다. 저서로는 『혐오와 매혹 사이: 왜 현대미술은 불편함에 끌리는가』(2018), 『세상 모든 곳이 미술관이다』(2022), 『너의 눈과 거대한 찰나: 권혜원의 작품에 관한 평론과 대화』(2024, 기획/엮음+공저), 『진행형의 세계: 한국 동시대 미술을 그리다』(2024)가 있다.
▶ Leepoetique [리포에틱]
리포에틱은 한국 동시대 미술을 연구하기 위해 2016년 문을 열었습니다. 연구소의 궁극적인 목표는 21세기, 현재 진행형의 미술을 적극적으로 분석, 비평하여 오늘의 예술을 관통하는 주요 담론들을 논의하고 이끌어가는 것입니다.

Since 1993, Total Museum of Contemporary Art has operated the Total Academy, contributing to the expansion of public access to culture and the arts through its engagement with a broad spectrum of artistic disciplines. Drawing on more than three decades of experience in arts education, the Museum is pleased to newly launch the Total Seminar.
The Total Seminar is a program developed in collaboration with researchers to undertake in-depth explorations of contemporary Korean artists. Within the rapidly evolving landscape of contemporary art, the seminar provides close, critical analyses of artists’ works and the themes they engage, examined through scholarly perspectives.
By focusing on individual contemporary artists working across diverse media and subjects, the Total Seminar examines the social, cultural, and technological dimensions reflected in their practices from an academic standpoint. Through this process, participants move beyond appreciation, cultivating the ability to critically analyze and interpret the ideas and concepts embedded in contemporary artworks.
Since August 2024, the Total Seminar has been presented under the title Between the Lines of Contemporary Art, in collaboration with art critic Lee Moonjung of Leepoetique. The program is open to art researchers, students, and all those interested in contemporary art, offering valuable insights to anyone seeking a deeper understanding of the field.
Instructor
Lee Moonjung (Art Critic / Director, Leepoetique)
Ph.D. in Plastic Arts, Ewha Womans University. She began her career as an art critic in 2011. Since 2018, she has published the research series Leepoetique: Criticism and Dialogue, which examines the practices of Korean artists, and continues to archive criticism and interviews through the Institute’s website.
Her publications include Between Hatred and Fascination: Why Does Contemporary Art Attract Us Through Discomfort? (2018); Everywhere Is a Museum (2022); Your Eyes and the Monumental Moment: Criticism and Dialogue on the Work of Kwon Hyewon (2024, editor and co-author); and The World in Progress: Drawing Contemporary Korean Art (2024).
Leepoetique
Founded in 2016, Leepoetique is dedicated to the study of contemporary Korean art. Its mission is to actively analyze and critique twenty-first-century art as an ongoing practice, engaging with and advancing the key discourses that shape and define the art of our time.
